Tasks and responsibilities:
The successful candidate will contribute to a team that will prepare a major publication on the impacts of demographic shifts, urbanization and climate change on agriculture and food security in Asia and the Pacific. As part of the report preparation, the candidate will:
Critically analyze existing research literature on urbanization, demographics, climate change and nutrition in Asia and the Pacific;
Analyze data on the above topics and create visually appealing graphical presentations of those data;
Assist with data analysis using national household surveys and other international databases
Write short pieces on specialized subtopics for inclusion in the report; and
In collaboration with the communications officer, generate ideas for communication products that are relevant to different types of audiences: policymakers, government analysts, university researchers and others.
Expected Outputs:
Literature reviews on various specific topics related to urbanization, demographics and climate change.
Short written analyses on specialized subtopics related to the overall focus of the report.
Data tables and occasional econometrics to support the analysis in the report.
Candidates should meet the following requirements:
Minimum Requirements: Bachelors degree in economics, development economics or related field. Masters degree preferred. Fluency in English.
Competencies: The candidate should have strong critical thinking skills, be results focused, personally committed to achieve a quality product, and good in communications and working in a team.
Technical/Functional Skills: Fluency with statistical and econometric analysis and software.
Selection criteria: Based on requirements, competencies and skills.
